We like all clubs are to be guided by Croke Park as to how to proceed with our AGM this year. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions we cannot hold a normal AGM this year. The GAA has made changes in it rule to allow for alternatives to an in person AGM for 2020. Our AGM will be held this year by way of an “AGM Day” which is fixed for Monday 30th November. An AGM day is fixed day and various other matters happen with reference to that day.
As part of the AGM Day arrangements, nomination and motion papers are circulated to all members with notice of the AGM in advance of the AGM day. If an election of an officer is required it will be conducted by means of a “delivered” vote. A delivered vote means that a vote rather than been cast in the traditional way at a meeting your vote will have to be delivered by post or by hand to a place specified on the ballot paper by a certain day with the onus been on the voter to make sure their vote was submitted. (Instruction on how this process will work will be send out to members in due course). Independent returning officers will be appointed to oversee the voting process.
The chairman’s address, the secretary’s report and treasurer’s report will be circulated to members at least 10 days before the AGM Day. Question relating to the secretary’s or treasurers reports will be answered by the new executive within one week of the AGM Day. Notices of motions and any other business that would normal be done at the AGM will also be dealt with within two weeks of the AGM Day.
An Coiste Bainistíochta (GAA’s management committee) have advised clubs to remain conservative as 2020 is not the year to consider contentious motions. Therefore we are asking members to defer potential motions that would require debate and voting to another time.
You will find links to Nomination and Motion sheets below. The closing date for forms to be submitted is 8pm on Friday 13th November. There will be a box available in Londis in Summerhill from 9am to 8pm on Friday 13th for members to leave their forms.
If you are a member of the club and you haven’t received an email/letter with details of the AGM then please email me at [email protected] and it will be sent on to you.
