Premier Championship Div 2 R4

The best description for this home game for Summerhill is simply ‘a bad day at the office’. A series of defensive errors allowed Simonstown in for early goals and the visitors led by 4-4 to 0-4 at the first water break. It didn’t get much better in the second quarter. At half time the score stood at 6-8 to 0-7, so it was simply a matter of restoring some pride in the second half. Summerhill introduced Luke Moran, Donal Matthews, Roddy McAuliffe, Jack Regan and Sean Hughes to the fray, and while the mountain was too big to climb Simonstown were restricted to just 5 further points. Substitute Moran scored 2 of the home side second half tally .
Up to tonight Summerhill were unbeaten in the competition and still are on course for a quarterfinal place. Should that scenario unfold then tonight’s setback will be simply consigned to the ‘bad day at office journal’.
