Full points and top of the table was the reward for the home side in this tough encounter in Summerhill in difficult conditions on Wednesday evening. Intermittent rain and drizzle made for treacherous underfoot conditions and handling difficulties for both sides but the Hill young guns scored at the crucial times. In particular, first half goals from Kian Hussey and Luke Moran, and Jamie Ryan in the second period meant that the visitors were kept at arms length for long periods of the game.

Jamie O’Shea was in great form at centre forward scoring 8 points, 5 from frees. Captain Conor Ryan led the resistance from centre half-back, and together with Gavin McVann at number 3 in the spine of the team they broke up the Dunboyne attacks time and again. The visitors were forced to go for goals in the closing stages and the discipline of the home side was admirable in not conceding frees in scoreable positions.
