Summerhill 3rd team travelled to Athboy on a glorious Friday evening to take on St Michaels in the 2nd round of the Junior C Championship. Summerhill started brightly racing into a 3 points to one lead after 10 minuted but St Michaels hit a purple patch and hit 1-5 without reply to take a lead they would not relinquish . Summerhill went in at the break trailing by 1-9 to 0-6 having missed at least 2 good goal scoring opportunities in the first half.
St Michaels continued to apply the pressure in the 2nd half. The introduction of former Meath player Daithi Regan who hit 1-1 within minutes of coming on finally settled the game as a contest. Cathal Ennis scored a well worked goal after been set up by Brian Rispin but this was merely a consolation.
The Summerhill men can take hearth from the defeat against a strong St Michaels side. The final score was not a true reflection of their efforts over the hour.
