Summerhill take division 1 title after Hard Fought Victory.
Following their  emphatic semi- final win at home on Tuesday night against  Ratoath, Summerhill made the trip to Dunganny  for this highly anticipated U16 Division 1 league final vs Duleek-Bellowstown.
With their regular  goalkeeper Luke Byrne unfortunately  out due to injury Darren Chapman stepped up to the plate for Summerhill and what an excellent job  he did . Duleek were first to score, starting strongly with speedy points from play . An excellent Jamie O’ Shea point settled the Hill . They battled on and points from Eoghan Frayne and a Free from O’Shea had the Hill in full flow.. A goal from Duleek made it a draw match on the 12th minute .. With Captain Gavin MC Vann and Ben Moran solid in Defence the Duleek possession was denied time and time again .A  17th min goal by Frayne following an excellent assist from Adam McDonnell pass ,had the Hill in the lead for the first time 1-6 to 1-5. Sean Hughes’s composure under pressure was key in the Summerhill defence .An unlucky Luke Moran shot on goal was inches wide just before halftime and further points from the in-form Frayne and O’Shea had Summerhill leading 1-11 to 1-6 at halftime.
Duleek were quickest off the mark at the re-start scoring two points in quick succession. Summerhill replied with a further point., Adam Byrne and Donal  Matthews  kept the pressure on Duleek feeding the forwards with excellent balls. A brilliant interception by Eoghan Grehan finding  Frayne  , who in turn assisted Henrique Magno. Magno was calm and collected and found the back of the net . This was the lift Summerhill needed.A black card for Hughes led to the introduction of Darragh  McVann   Duleek would go on to regret some of their chances and pressure form Hussey and Mulligan played a big part in this. With repeated attacks from Duleek The Youths from Summerhill kept cool heads .A brave save by Chapman had the Hill supporters breathe a sigh of relief in the final minutes .
At last the final whistle blew and the Hard fought victory was won :Sumerhill 2-14 Duleek 1-13.
Special mention must go to Capatin McVann’s  speech ,while proud and excited by their victory ,still remembered their friend Evan Brennan on his anniversary .The future is bright for this great bunch of players .
