Summerhill GFC kick started the 2018 season against Na Fianna in Div 1AFL league clash in a windy Baconstown this morning.
John Lyons’s men were to slow to start their campaign but after 10 minutes Davy Dalton scored 2 points in quick succession with no reply from Na Fianna . A goal from Conor Lyons settled Summerhill in the Driving seat of this game. Points from Liam Shaw and another from Dalton were quickly followed by an excellent run from Liam Shaw who found Barry Dardis , Dardis with a sublime pass to Conor Lyons who found the back of the Net. Conor Frayne also found the Net for Summerhill .
Following an unfortunate black card on Goalie Tony McDonnell ,Robbie McDonnell stood up to save the resulting penalty .
Half time score 3-4 to 0-4.
While Na Fianna started the second half strongly with 2 fine points an excellent goal from the speedy Conor Frayne, points from Liam Shaw and Conor Lyons saw off any threat to the outcome of this game.
Caolan Young John Keane and John Lavelle had the defence well under control
Final Score: Summerhill 4-7 Na Fianna 0-10.
