A-League Div 1 Rd 10

Summerhill played host to Simonstown tonight (Friday), in what was a battle for top position in the A league Div.1, to see who would join or overtake league leaders Navan O’Mahonys. . Simonstown got off to the better start, after fifteen minutes leading 1.3 to 0.3,but the ‘Hill tagged on three more points to Simonstowns  one, to go in at the break a point behind (1-4 to 0-6).
This game was played at a fair pace and five minutes into the second half David Larkin got a goal that in effect put the home side ahead where they were to stay until the final whistle. Summerhill went five points up  after the goal, but Simonstown battled hard and didn’t make life easy for Summerhill, and when they got their second goal from a penalty  with six minutes left followed by a point  there was just the minimum in it. A further point from Sean Dalton left the home side winning on a scoreline of 1-15 to 2-10. This was a hard fought game and credit to both sides on a fine display. This win puts Summerhill joint top with Navan O’Mahonys on 16 points.
