Arriving in Navan with a squad of 13 , some carrying injuries the odds were stacked against our u16 Division 1 team. With wintry conditions on a spring evening we lost the toss and had to play up the hill in the 1st half. O’Mahonys were first on the score board with a goal, initial thoughts were it’s going to be a long night but the lads got stuck in and responded with 2 quick points. Summerhill had most of the position in the first half and should have been well ahead at halftime but we were happy with a draw 1:04 each.
The 2nd half started with a blow , O’Mahonys scoring a goal from the throw in , but we responded quickly with a goal of our own. It was tit for tat for the remainder of the game, and with 5 min to go it was still tied. Then as you would expect from Summerhill, the lads upped the ante and with most of the boys double jobbing we contained the play in O’Mahonys half and put the pressure on to finish up 3 point winners. Fantastic to win on a score line of 3:11 to 4:05. There was 100% effort from each player. Our next game Tuesday 9th at 6pm , home v Dunshaughlin.
