A-League Div 1 Rd5

Summerhill welcomed Donaghmore Ashbourne to Summerhill on Tuesday evening for their fifth round A-League Division 1 game. Summerhill were hoping to get back to winning ways following their loss to Skryne in round four. The Ashbourne men started the brightest scoring an early goal but as the half went on Summerhill gradually built momentum. A Summerhill goal from Eamonn McDonnell as half time approached saw the home side lead by 2 points at the break 1-6 to 1-4. Summerhill would have been happy enough with the half time lead despite missing several other good scoring opportunities in the half.
Summerhill started the second half brightly increasing their lead to three with a Conor Lyons point but the visitors up their intensity considerably and slowly began to eat into the lead. The sides were level at 1-8 apiece with 10 minutes to go and with Summerhill struggling to gain possession the visitors tagged on four unanswered points to run out winners. With time almost up Summerhill goal keeper Tony McDonnell rose high to claimed a ball dropping into the square but fell awkwardly in an  innoxiously clash with an Ashbourne player. Tony required lengthy treatment on the pitch and had to helped to off. We wish him well and hop the injury is not too serious.
