Although the score line indicates otherwise, this was far from a one sided encounter. Played in beautiful summer sunshine on the now wider pitch the exchanges were at times crunching and boiled over on occasion. The result was never in doubt after the Kells side were reduced to 13 men in the second half. Summerhill’s path to success in this Round 4 fixture lay in the willingness to put bodies on the line, defend like demons, moving the ball quickly through the hands and using the expansive playing area to good effect.
