Summerhill 2-13 Navan O’Mahonys 3-11

Summerhill travelled to Brews Hill on Saturday night  to play league leaders Navan O’Mahonys, and it didn’t disappoint, as the two old rivals churned out a stormer. Both sides traded points and on the twenty eight minute of the first half John Lavelle blasted the ball to the net after been brilliantly put through by Diarmaid McCabe.  At the break Summerhill went in four points to the good (1-7 to 0-6).

The start of the second half saw O’Mahonys put three goals in quick succession into the Summerhill net along with a couple of points to turn the game on its head. Going from four down at the break to seven points up after twelve minutes, it looked like the home side might romp home but the Hill had other ideas and a fisted goal from Conor Lyons left four in it. Hard as they tried Summerhill couldn’t claw back the deficit and lost out by a point in the end. This was a hard fought game and befitting of where both teams stand in the league.
