Summerhill conceded home advantage in order to get this match played before the championship and made the long trip to Piltown on Tuesday evening. In what proved to be an entertaining game with the result in the balance right up to the end. Summerhill recovered well from the concession of 3 first half goals to draw level with 7 minutes to go but 3 late points from St Colmcilles sealed the victory. The game was a great opportunity to get some game time for the players in the run up to the first game of the championship on Sunday week.

The game also saw a debut in adult football for Jack Bannon as well as a return to the Summerhill colours for Connie McGrath after several years abroad.
